MILK CAN PENCIL HOLDER

Inspired by all the Back-To-School commercials, ads and scrapbook paper, I had no choice but to create something in that theme.  So, I came up with a Pencil Holder with, of course, Graphic-45 new School line of paper, and I love it all.

I just love the way Sakura 3-D Crystal Lacquer allows me to 'pop' selected areas to give it a well polished look.  On the Bottle Cap, Sakura 3-D Crystal Lacquer brightens the graphics and protects it giving it a glassy look.  I also used it on the clocks and the ruler to make them stand out.

Let's get started:

Supplies Needed:

   Sakura 3-D Crystal Lacquer

   Paper, your choice

   Bottle Cap, (this one is from 'Once Upon A Page' in Burbank)

   Ribbon,

   Stick Pin.

1.)  For the Bottle Cap, I circle-punched a piece of  green cardstock and gave it a good coat of 3-D Lacquer, and let it dry. Then put a pin in it and again coated the inside of bottle cap with lacquer, let it dry and added ribbon and stick pin.

2.)  Cut Background Paper to fit around Milk Can.  Using Sakura 3-D Crystal Lacquer I adhered it to the can.

3.)  I cut the ruler and clocks from one of the papers, used Crystal Lacquer on entire ruler to give it a lacquered look, and only applied Crystal Lacquer to Clock Faces, let them dry and applied along with the abc graphic.  Add Pencils and Pens, place on your desk, and know it is there to greet you whenever you need it.

Fall Moon

Hello all,

Well I have really enjoyed my time on the Sakura Hobby Craft Design team for the past 6 months. This will be my last post for now...the 6 month term just flew right by! You can continue to find me and projects I am doing on my blog www.thestampaddictblog.com. I hope to see you there!



For this final design team blogpost I stamped by image (Memory Box Harvest Moon stamp) in Versamark then embossed with The Stamp Addict Black Diamonds Embossing Powder. I gives a sparkly look to the black!



Then I filled in the moon with the Yellow from the Country Colors set of colored Crystal Lacquer. I let it dry and trimmed the piece to the edge of the stamped area then mounted the image onto black paper. Then used a coordinating color paper that matches the color of the moon for my next layer and put the entire piece on a black card base. A simple and easy card that looks very striking! I hope you like it!

Boardwalk Pendant

I can't seem to get away from my beach-themed projects this summer! I've even been decorating my deck in a beach theme - even though I'm at 6100' elevation in the mountains! I can see the ocean from my deck, so I thought....why not! I really love the way this necklace turned out. I've been wearing it quite a bit too!

To start off, here are the products that I used.

I couldn't wait to make a collage style scene in this deep pendant finding - it just took me awhile to figure out just how I would do it. I knew I wanted depth and had a fair amount of room to work with, although this was a very tiny space to work in. I first decided on my background, which is this vintage beach scene that I found on a Graphic 45 scrapbook paper scrap and glued it down using 3D Crystal Lacquer. After it dried, I started layering the Crystal Lacquer and the embossing powder (it's what I had on hand that mimics sand). I let each layer dry overnight, so this process took me a few days to achieve. After the second layer, I added the starfish charm, which was part of a necklace that I took apart. I glued the charm down, and added more Crystal Lacquer and embossing powder over the charm to make it look like it was partially buried in the sand. There was another loop on the bottom of the charm that I snipped off.

These jewelry findings came with what I thought was a piece of cardboard that fit nicely on the top. I didn't realize that it was a piece of acrylic, until Chelsea (a talented Design Team team mate) had explained it in her post a few weeks ago! Thank you Chelsea! This shows the acrylic 'lid' after I peeled off the protective paper.

I printed several versions of the words I wanted to go in the pendant and finally decided on the My Underwood font. I cut out each word, distressed it with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and glued them into place. I curled the word 'seashore' a little bit and attached it to the top of the starfish for dimension.

Here you can see that I glued a small clear rhinestone over the loop on the charm, a small pearl in the sand and a green pearl bead in the background. The rest of the beads were just placed on the sand area and not glued down. When I was happy with the amount of beads, I glued down the acrylic cover using Crystal Lacquer just around the tiny edges of the pendant. The smaller beads can move around inside the pendant.

I added another starfish charm on the top with a jump ring and put the pendant on a ball chain. All ready for summer outfits!

Backgrounds with Crystal Lacquer

I am participating in a card swap next month at Red Letter Journals, one of our local scrapbooking shops. The challenge theme is backgrounds. So, here’s what I came up with.

I started with a piece of acetate slightly smaller that my card. I stamped my image—Dragonfly from Earth Art International—on the acetate using black StazOn ink. When stamping on acetate, take special care not to smear the image.

On the reverse side of the acetate, I puddled several colors of Sakura Hobby Craft 3D Crystal Lacquer—pink, gold, green, blue, and violet.

Using the tip on my finger, I blended the lacquers while spreading them to the edges of the acetate. Just a word of caution here: don’t overdo the blending or you will lose the individual colors and the results will look like mud.

Next, I sprinkled the wet crystal lacquer with gem particles available from Sakura Hobby Craftand Gary’s Ultrafine Crystal Glitter from Gary M. Berlin Co.

When this was completely dry, I used my Crop-a-dile to punch holes in each corner and fastened it to the front of my card with velvet brads.

How to Create Quick and Easy Wall Art

Supplies needed:

4x4 piece of glass or plexi-glass

Gold Flower Stickers from Sparkraft Enterprises

3D Color Crystal Lacquer

2 Tim Holtz Clips

Matching Chain

This piece of glass was out of a picture frame that was used for another project. The glass had been floating around my desk for several weeks and I didn't want to just toss it, so I decided to use it to create a quick piece of wall art.

Clean your glass or plexi-glass before placing the flower stickers. I used Gold Metallic 3D Crystal Lacquer for the center of each flowers. The large flower petals are Lilac Pearl 3D Crystal Lacquer and the smaller flowers are Glitter Red (which looks pink to me).

I let the Crystal Lacquer dry overnight, attached the chain to the clips and then the clips to the glass. Hang it on the wall or in a window.

Journal Tin

For this project I made a blank journal that fits inside a tin.  You could also forgo making the journal and use the tin for discreetly hiding unmentionable items in your purse. 

MATERIALS:

Small flat metal tin

3D Crystal Lacquer

Color Crystal Lacquer and Metallic Color Lacquer

Gem Particles

Rubber Stamps

Stazon Ink

White Cardstock

Tim Holtz Texture Fade

Glimmer Mist in Tiger Lilly

Distrezz It All

Steampunk Debutante Paper Pack cover

 First thing I did was trim the images I wanted off the Steampunk Debutante Paper Pack cover.  Yes the cover.  I use everything!!  I trimmed them and arranged them how I wanted on my tin, then used Clear Crystal Lacquer to adhere the pieces, I then rubber stamped some images on the metal using StazOn stamp ink in black. (some images I stamped before and they are layered with the paper strips.)

Next I filled in portions of the images on the cover of the tin with Clear Crystal Lacquer.  Intending to fill the areas with Gem Particles I chose what I did by color. I did the wings first with Green Gem Particles, then once I had the excess dusted off I filled in the girl's flowers with Lacquer and sprinkled Pink.  To be sure you don't mix you could let each section dry before doing a new color... I am not this patient, and I don't mind if stuff mixes.

 While this dried (see my patience above) I trimmed several sheets of white cardstock to 5"x8.5" and folded them in half to make a booklet of 4 1/4"x 5"  The top sheet I ran through my Sizzix with a Tim Holtz Texture Fade (post card) then spritzed with Glimmer Mist and let that dry (so much drying I better go read a book!)  I reassembled my folded journal, punched 2 holes in the spine with my hole punch, and strung twine through a few times to make the binding.  Finally I ran the page side through my Distrezz It All for a fun, steampunk, antique look.

I colored in the rest of the images I wanted to make pop, and the stamped images with various different Color Lacquers, and Metallic Color Lacquers, then allowed them to dry before going to the next image, otherwise things run together.  Then let the whole thing dry overnight.  The image above is of the back of the tin.

JEWEL-TOP GIFT TIN BOX

     I just cannot wait to fill this with a gift for my BFF.  This Jewel Tin Box took longer to make only because of the drying time in-between steps so let's get started:

 Supplies needed:
Sakura 3-D Crystal Lacquer ~ Sakura Square Tin Box ~ Tattered Angels Glass (acrylic) Flourish ~ Chunky Aged Silver Glitter (or you can use silver seed beads) ~ Mixed Blue and Green Seed Beads ~ Scissors.
Instructions:

1.)  Using Scissors, Cut Flourish  to fit top of Tin Box.  Let Dry Completely.

2.)  Sakura 3-D Crystal Lacquer is the only adhesive or glue you will need and you will begin by applying it to the backside of cut Flourish and set onto top of Tin Box.  Then, taking a small section at a time, apply Crystal Lacquer to Top of Flourish, generously sprinkle with Silver Glitter and tap-off excess.  Repeat until entire Flourish is covered.  Let Dry Completely.

3.)  Repeat step #2 only this time you will be applying Colored Seed Beads to the negative space on Tin Box.  Let Dry Completely, then fill with Hand made Jewelry, Gift Card for your BFF...or Mom.

   
     That's it, you are done.  Try using your favorite colors or if giving it away, the favorite colors of lucky recipient.  Be creative and above all, have fun because 'art should never hurt.'
