Lace Mask

I have seen many versions of the lace mask lately and wanted to try one with the supplies I had on hand. I think it came out pretty darn cool. I must do this for Mardi Gras!!!

Supplies:

You need a mask to trace or a mask pattern, 3d Crstal Lacquer, Terri Sproul mixers- assortment of colors andfine glitter, a plastic sheet protector, paint brush, lace, scissors, exacto knife and optional dimensional puff paint.


Trace mask on the plastic sheet protector with a sharpie.

You only need to trace one half- you will fold it in half to cut it out. This will make it come out evenly.

Cut out the mask shape. Only cut one side of the protector, you will be able to make several masks from one.

Folding the piece in half and cut out your mask shape.

Cut out the eye shape with an exacto.

You can clean it up with your scissors.

This is your mask shape.

You will refine this later.

Spread of a good amount of 3D Crystal Lacquer.

Make sure you get a thick coat and go all the way to the edge. This is where the teflon sheet comes in handy because after it dries you can just peel it up.

Lay you lace face up in the lacquer. Most lace has a raise side, this side will be away from the plastic facing up.

Allow to dry. I place mine under my task light for about 30 minutes.

Using a hole puncher, punch a hole about even with the edge of the eye.

Fold mask in half so the holes line up.

Cut the eye holes out of the lace. You will start the hole with the exacto but then move to your scissors to get a smooth edge.

At this point, place it over your face and make any adjustments.

This is your lace mask.

Now time to embellish.

Gather your Mixers and Glitter.

Put a decent amount of 3D Crystal Lacquer on the mat and mix in your background color.

This lace pattern is of flowers so I decided to do my flowers in red and the background area in gold.

This is how it is looking so far.

I decided to leave a few petals white to bring focus to only a few. I was scared it would get too busy if I painted them all red. The ones remaining I painted with lacquer and ultra fine glitter.

I tied a few poneytail holders to make an elastic strap.

I couldn't decide on an outline or not, this is with the outline.

I used dimensional puff paint to outline. I like both.
I did not embellish any further but you can add feathers, jewelry, resin pieces (above you can see I had a fleur de lis ready to go but like this look so stopped) or anything else.

Make Your Own 3D Embellishments

Ever see an image and wish you could use it as a 3D element on a card or scrapbook page... 

YOU CAN and is it easy!!!

Supplies:

Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer

Cardstock

Pattern Paper

Black Ink to distress paper

Tim Holtz Black Distressing Marker

Additional embellishments:

Black flower

Rhinestone flower center

Chipboard Key-Maya Road

All you need is Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer. 

Adhere images to thin chipboard, cereal box or thick card stock. Fussy cut each image with care.  Apply Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer to parts or all of each of the images as desired. Set aside to dry.  Once dry, take a black marker and carefully go around the edges with the side of the pen.  This covers all the white that may show. 

On the moon without the hat Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer is on the face.  The moon with the hat has Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer on the hat only.

This card has the moon, wings, witches frame, hat & dress with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer. Also, the flower  has been applied with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer.  

The raven has  Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer applied to the whole image, no lacquer was applied to the image of Poe.  

Here is the moon where only the hat has Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer.  Only the outside frame of the pumpkin with the witch inside has Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer.  The Two stacked pumpkins have Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer applied to the whole image.

Materials:

Sakura Hobby Craft Glass tiles- 1"
1" circle punch
Metal Flashing Tape
Sakura 3D Crystal Laquer
Scissors
Ouija image
Bail



Glass tiles- 1", 1" circle punch and Flashing Tape

Step 2

Directions:

1. Gather your materials
2. Design your image and use 1" circle punch to punch it out.

   

   Step 3

3. Using Sakura 3D Crystal Laquer, cover back of glass with laquer and press the image face down on the glass. Use a qtip or something else smooth to burnish the image down. You can look through the glass side to see where any air bubble may be. Let dry.
4. Use the 1" paper punch to punch out a circle from the Metal Flashing Tape (this is bought at the hardware store). Also cut a strip of tape wide and long enough to wrap around the edge.
5. Place the metal tape on the back of your glass. This is will be a faux metal back. Place the tape around the edge only slightly overlapping on the front.
6. Burnish edges down
7. Glue on bail using the 3D Laquer.

Bootiful Halloween Magnets

3D Crystal Lacquer Blank Bottle Caps 1" Round images or stickers Magnets Large Windowed Tin *

Gem Particles (Blue Flash) * 3D Colored Crystal Lacquer * (black, brown, yellow) Rub-ons * *Optional

Here's a fun and easy project to make and give as a party favor or for a hostess gift. A couple of projects ago I showed how to make a faux hand blown glass ornament (HERE) and in one of the steps I showed how I drained the excess 3D Crystal Lacquer I used into blank bottle caps.  Once the bottle caps were dry I put them away and saved them for a later project.  You know the old saying waste not want not....I mean after all 3D Crystal Lacquer doesn't grow on trees *wink*

Step 1: Gather your supplies-- For my 1" images I used some marked down Halloween stickers I had picked up after Halloween last year that I had stashed away.	Step 2:  apply a small amount of 3D Crystal Lacquer to the base of each bottle cap and add your 1" images or stickers to the center of each bottle cap, and allow them to dry.
Step 3: Once the images are adhered and dried inside fill each cap up with clear 3D Crystal Lacquer (use a toothpick or pin to pop any air bubbles you might have).  Set your bottle caps aside in a level, draft and dust free area.	Step 4: When your bottle caps are completely dry turn them over and  adhere your magnet to the bottom side of the cap using more 3D Crystal Lacquer.
Tin: Click HERE to see my previous project showing how I decorated another Halloween tin.  I first applied yellow and brown 3D Crystal Lacquer to the backside of the clear window and allowed it to dry, level. On the front of the clear window I used rub-ons, and to give  the tree some dimension I used black 3D Crystal Lacquer over the rub-on tree.  Once the tree was dry I applied an even layer of clear 3D Crystal Lacquer over the entire clear window and rub-ons.  I also added  fun gem particles to the wet lacquer at the base of the tree and haunted house to give it some bling.	Here are the finished Halloween magnets attached inside my tin by their magnets.
