Gift Canister Repurpose

I end up with a lot of canisters from a shake I drink daily and have been saving them for a while waiting for inspiration to hit me. One thing I made is a container for Christmas gifts. I often have a lot of small items to give that I may not be in the position to place in a stocking (i.e. mailed gifts). So I came up with a cute recycled alternative to the gift bag

Materials:
Canister
Scrapbook paper
ribbon
Outline Stickers from Sparkraft Enterprises
Terri Sproul Mixers- Interference Blue Pearl
Mailing Tags

Miscellaneous inks
*any additional embellishments

Start of with clean canisters by making sure there are no signs of what originally came in the canister. The first one I pulled the label off and the others I just covered it.

Cut your scrapbook paper to fit around the canister with a slight overlap.

I mixed up some  3D Crystal Laquer and Terri Sproul Mixers- Interference Blue Pearl and painted over the surface of the whole canister.

Next I covered the lid of the canister. Since this lid has a lip on it, I placed the paper in the center and left the edge of the lid visible. The color matched the paper so I just painted with a coat of the  3D Crystal Laquer and Terri Sproul Mixers- Interference Blue Pearl.

Next take some shipping tags, cut to size and take the string out. Cover with a coat of ink (use a light color- I used a distressed green).

Take your Outline Stickers from Sparkraft Enterprises and place on your tag. We will use the stickers as a resist for a second coat of darker ink. If you place your stickers back on the backer sheet when done, you can use several times.

Hang the stickers off the tag for a nice random effect.

Keep both coats fairly light since this is a name tag and we will need to write on top of it.

Finished tags.

Cover the edge of the lid with white ribbon and tie on your tag.
You can embellish your canister with other ribbon or findings.

I wanted my canisters to be used after Christmas so I avoid overly Christmas imagery on the decorating of the canister. The tags are a different story!

I played with decorating the lids too.

Necklace Pendant

Necklace Pendant
I decided to make a simple yet pretty pendant for my son's girlfriend. They are getting married next month and wanted to give her something for her stocking since they will be spending Christmas at my house. I am unsure of her favorite color but know it's not PINK.
Good for me because that means I don't have to share any of my pink goodies. I'm almost certain it is purple though for some reason.
I began with the idea of using glass particles in it but decided against it once I saw it the way it was already. It just needs a chain.
Supplies:
Directions:
1. Pour some shimmer powder around lightly into the jewelry finding.
2.Then add a few drops of color enhance effect to different places on top of the shimmer powder.
3. Fill the jewelry finding with 3D Crystal Lacquer, be careful not to overfill.
4. Mixed it all together. (I used a plastic knife to mix it all up and get the rich color!)
5. Then gently drop ultra fine glitter on different areas of the pendant and allow it to dry and then put ribbon or chain through the whole so it can be worn.
The picture doesn't do it justice. The glitter causes the picture to reflect light back during the camera process. But I was so happy with the color of it at this point I didn't want to take it any steps further and add texture as I originally planned and feel she will love it.
Thank you for visiting!

Lace Mask

I have seen many versions of the lace mask lately and wanted to try one with the supplies I had on hand. I think it came out pretty darn cool. I must do this for Mardi Gras!!!

Lace mask before outline
Lace mask after outline.

Supplies:

You need a mask to trace or a mask pattern, 3d Crstal Lacquer, Terri Sproul mixers- assortment of colors andfine glitter, a plastic sheet protector, paint brush, lace, scissors, exacto knife and optional dimensional puff paint.

Trace mask on the plastic sheet protector with a sharpie.
You only need to trace one half- you will fold it in half to cut it out. This will make it come out evenly.

Cut out the mask shape. Only cut one side of the protector, you will be able to make several masks from one.

Folding the piece in half and cut out your mask shape.

Cut out the eye shape with an exacto.
You can clean it up with your scissors.

This is your mask shape.
You will refine this later.

Spread of a good amount of 3D Crystal Lacquer.

Make sure you get a thick coat and go all the way to the edge. This is where the teflon sheet comes in handy because after it dries you can just peel it up.

Lay you lace face up in the lacquer. Most lace has a raise side, this side will be away from the plastic facing up.

Allow to dry. I place mine under my task light for about 30 minutes.

Using a hole puncher, punch a hole about even with the edge of the eye.

Fold mask in half so the holes line up.

Cut the eye holes out of the lace. You will start the hole with the exacto but then move to your scissors to get a smooth edge.

At this point, place it over your face and make any adjustments.

This is your lace mask.

Now time to embellish.

Gather your Mixers and Glitter.

Put a decent amount of 3D Crystal Lacquer on the mat and mix in your background color.

This lace pattern is of flowers so I decided to do my flowers in red and the background area in gold.

This is how it is looking so far.

I decided to leave a few petals white to bring focus to only a few. I was scared it would get too busy if I painted them all red. The ones remaining I painted with lacquer and ultra fine glitter.

I tied a few poneytail holders to make an elastic strap.

I couldn't decide on an outline or not, this is with the outline.
I used dimensional puff paint to outline. I like both.
I did not embellish any further but you can add feathers, jewelry, resin pieces (above you can see I had a fleur de lis ready to go but like this look so stopped) or anything else.

The Fleur Debris! Hurricane Art

Hello, I am Tanya and a newbie blogger here. I love crystal lacquer and use it with almost everything. For my first project I had planned something very special, but I got an unexpected visit from someone that disrupted my plans.

I live at the second stop in the Hurricane Isaac Stateside Tour.
Hurricane Isaac came ashore last week and living in south Louisiana you get accustom to this kind of thing. What you dont get accustomed to is the heat and the boredom when you are out of power. This time I preassembled some craft items I could use when the boredom set in. The heat is another matter. I cranked the air down while I still had air conditioning and it managed to stay cool through the first night without power.

During the eye of the storm the raining stops and this storm was so slow we were several hours in the eye. At that time I decided to rummage around outside and see what damage had been done. My neighbor had shingles missing and all over the yard...so I picked up some. I saw leaves and branches and even rocks and nuts and bolts. I gathered all these things and brought them inside....hmmm, what to make... AH, a fleur debris! Yes, I know, I make a lot of things with fleur de lis' in them. It is our state symbol, after all! (And the Saint's emblem).

Supplies I used:
3d Crystal Lacquer
Terri Sproul Mixers- gold
Twine
House Shingle
Storm Findings
Watch Parts
Hoard of items from Hubby's work room

I mounted the shingle to a piece of mat board. The drew out the shape of a fat fleur de lis with 3d Crystal Lacquer and let it set a bit. It was too liquidy to hold the twine down, so I let set up some and then pressed the twine in it.

Now I start adding the twigs, leave and other debris inside the twine outlined shape. My original idea was to make the shape out of twigs but I couldn't replicate the curve very well so I went with some twine in my hubby's workroom.

I added a washer from the street and used some watch hands that I already had on hand (ha ha, pun intended).

I use the 3d Crystal Lacquer as glue and then fill in the spaces with a coat. Then I begin to drop in some watch parts as a filler. Wherever a see too much shingle, I drop a watch part or a spare screw.

I then mix up some Terri Sproul Mixers with some lacquer and use my finger to wipe some gold accents on the twigs and rocks.

You can see the gold highlights here.

This is what it looked like after the lacquer had dried overnight.
