More Glass Tile Pendants!

I made more really easy pendants!

To make a pendant like these, you need one of Sakura's glass tiles and matching bezel cup, Crystal Lacquer and an image that fits the tile.

The glass tiles are available in rectangular, square and circular shapes.

There are bezel cups to match.  There are also bails you can glue right onto the glass tiles. 

I made two pendants.  They both use scrapbook paper.  One is heavy cardstock paper from Graphic 45.  The other is thin paper from Sandylion.  They both worked well!


You could use almost any paper, and I think fabric would work fine, too.  I think this would be great with a map featuring your hometown or some of your favorite text. 
I sealed the images with Mod Podge.

You could trace the shape of the glass tile onto your paper and cut the paper to fit, but it’s really easy to just adhere the glass tile to the paper with Crystal Lacquer and then trim it when it starts to set up.  Crystal Lacquer comes in a bottle with a small dispenser tip that is perfect for squeezing out small amounts.  I lightly coated the back of my glass tiles with Crystal Lacquer.  I didn’t spread the Crystal Lacquer all the way to the edges of the tiles, because it sort of gets squished out when you put it down on the paper.  After coating the tiles, I placed them where I wanted them on the paper.  The tile wants to slide around on the Crystal Lacquer, so you’ll want to hold it in place for a moment while it settles.

Once the Crystal Lacquer started to set up, I trimmed the paper with scissors.

Then I coated the back of the paper lightly with Crystal Lacquer and set the tiles down into the bezel cups.  I used a wet paper towel to wipe away a little Crystal Lacquer that got squished out.

And that was it!  All I had to do then was put the pendants on chains.  Sakura offers ball chain in several finishes.  I added a brass chain for the brass finish bezel cup.

I live in a really dry place, and I could make these in the morning to wear the same evening, but in other places, you’ll want to let the Crystal Lacquer dry for at least a day or so.

Spring Finch Egg Shimmer Mica Jewelry Set

Materials needed

The finch eggs are delicate, so take care in epoxying the toothpicks into one end of the finch egg for a handle.  5 Minute epoxy is easy to work with, just remember you have only 5 minutes before the two parts become rock hard AND the epoxy has to be mixed in EQUAL amounts.

Once the toothpicks are glued into place, stick them in the Styrofoam for 5 minutes, until dry.

I am using Purple Shimmer. 

Of each bottle of epoxy make equal 1/2" lines on your paper pad.

Use a toothpick to mix the two lines together and with the wet toothpick dip into the jar of shimmer powder.

Mix the powder into the epoxy mixture and do this two or three times to get the shade you want.

 

Use the mixing toothpick to carefully cover the entire finch egg.  Do not put pressure on the egg, coat with the shimmer epoxy and then turn egg upside down to let excess drip off.  Once excess has dripped off, turn egg upside right and it will self-level all around the egg.  You may need to turn egg upside down again if epoxy puddles near the toothpick connection to the egg.

 

Remember you have 5 minutes from the start of mixing till the epoxy is rock hard.  Do each egg separately and set into Styrofoam to cure....do all three.

Once all three are finished, start with the first one completed and cut off the toothpick close to the egg.

Mix a very small amount of epoxy together and epoxy the swivel up-eye over the area where the toothpick was cut away from the finch egg.  The egg is no longer fragile and you can handle the egg with out  worry of breakage.  The swivel up-eyes allow the eggs to freely turn when wearing so to see all areas of the finished jewelry.

I use 527 glue into a small glue bottle with a 9mm tip to get fine control for applying jewelry findings and flatback stones to the eggs.  For each egg eyeball the egg in half and glue on the 1mm gold plated ball chain to divide the egg in half.  Do this to all three.

Cut off the tip of a toothpick so it is flat on one end.  Apply a bit of Embellie Gellie to the end of the toothpick.  This is a wonderful product to pick up small items like rhinestones, beads, findings and place onto the glue.  Apply 527 to one side of the 1mm ball chain and glue down 15 9ss Swarovski flatback rhinestones to each side of 1mm ball chain.  Do this to all eggs.

Apply the ear wires to two of the eggs and on one attach the jump ring and apply to the 24" necklace chain.

Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Pendant

I made a simple project this week.

That means I need to definitely step it up for my next post, but I've wanted a multiple sclerosis awareness bracelet, necklace or some sort of jewelry and figured no time is better than now. :)

Supplies:

Jewelry Findings by Sakura Hobby Craft

(3 pieces of white brass pendants, only used 1)

3D Crystal Lacquer

1. First mix the Terri Sproul mixer (citrine) with 3D Crystal Lacquer until you get the consistency and amount you need.

2. Then add the Color Enhance Effect.

3. "Paint" the white brass pendant. It ends up being like a yellow like color.

4. Take a ribbon of your color choice and according to the awareness you are trying to represent. I chose orange to represent multiple sclerosis since I have MS. I know that orange also represents other things as well.

5. Glue the ribbon down to the pendant and cover it and whole pendant with 3D Crystal Lacquer.

6. Use beads and fill in the areas that have no ribbon on it.

7. Clip off extra ribbon from the edge of the pendant.

And now I have my MS Awareness Jewelry!

Earth Day Inspired Jewelry

Earth Day is tomorrow and I love creating new items from recycled pieces, I really wanted to do an Earth Day inspired piece (in this case pieces).

 Materials:
Used Tape Roll
Tule
Terri Sproul Mixer:  Tanazite Pearl, Ultra Fine Glitter
3D Crystal Lacquer
The Robin's Nest Dew Drops
Cereal Box
Wire
Scissors
Fish Hook Earrings

 1.  Wrap the Tape Roll with Tule - tie knot in end.

 2.  Paint with 3D Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers.

 3.  Place a rim of Lacquer around the top add Glitter.  Allow to dry.

 4.  While drying create earring and pendant.  Use an oval template to create four circles on a cereal box (for the earrings) and two larger ovals for the pendant.

 5.  Cut out the circles

 6.  Glue the circles glossy side together and trim.

 7.  Tie tule around the circles.

 8.  Paint with Lacquer and Mixers.

9.  What you fingers will look like.  I would recommend washing them before wrapping the wire or you will glue yourself to your project.  It is also recommended that you allow the project to dry completely before wrapping (once again so you won't glue yourself to your project.)  Add Dew Drops for finishing touches.

Blinged-out Timeless Wings Pendant

As the month comes to an end my brain gears up for the impending time change. It's just a few weeks away! This year in particular time just really seems to have flown by. That was my inspiration for this project.
Today I wanted to share some fun layering with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer and the little gem particles.

For this project you will need:

peacock green and blue flash gem particles

Black-coated Large Jewelry finding

Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer

watch gears [removed by me from a watch]

recollections butterfly diecut [transparent]

bling

Add Peacock Green Gem Particles to an empty Black-coated
Jewelry Finding.

Add a layer of Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer.

I let this layer dry before layering more.

I added the Blue Flash Gem Particles and more Sakura and
then layered on my watch parts in the bottom left.

After getting all the watch parts arranged like I wanted
I added the transparent Butterfly and added a coat
of the 3D Crystal lacquer to the top of it.

As the lacquer dried I found a few places on the butterfly
that I felt needed more lacquer so I added a bit more.

Some of the flatter watch parts just screamed for some bling
so i added some brown and clear bling to the centers.
